THE ONION BAG PROJECT

We believe in being good stewards of the natural world, and in keeping the Tuscarawas River clean and beautiful. That's why we are very proud participants of the Onion Bag Litter Prevention Project.

WHAT IS THE ONION BAG PROJECT?

Led by the veterans organization Paddle for Heroes, the Onion Bag Project provides complimentary mesh onion bags for river users to collect their trash and keep it our of our waterways. More than fifty onion-bag dispensers have been installed along our rivers thus far, keeping a LOT of litter out of the Muskingum River Watershed.

WHY AN ONION BAG?

Mesh produce bags are durable and easily cleaned, so they're ideal for repeated use. They're also brightly colored, which means they're easy to spot if they accidentally fall overboard.

OKAY, SO WHERE DO I COME IN?

We want you to have a great time on the river — but we also want you to leave the river as beautiful as it was when you arrived. That means keeping your trash in the boat and out of the water!

If you're heading out for a day on the river, pick up an onion bag to collect any trash. When you return, the trash goes in the trash can, and the bag gets rinsed and ready for reuse.
